For decades, the farming community has been largely downtrodden. Owing to the skyrocketing production costs and meagre income, farming has become unsustainable. The situation is further exploited by the intermediaries taking advantage of the mostly uneducated peasants. Lack of awareness about the developments in agricultural technologies and their application is yet another blockade in the development of the farming community. We at MEGHFARM hope to bring a change in the current agricultural scenario by supplying the farmers with the necessary capital for cultivation and equip them with the required technical literacy by training them in INGAP and EURO agricultural practices, that can help guide them in the path of sustainable and profitable agriculture. As of now, we have distributed over 500 saplings to over 200 beneficiaries and has begun cultivation of passion fruit, rambutan (N18) and banana in five areas within the district of Wayanad. Through all this, we plan to create a regular supply of chemical free fruits and vegetables for our customers, thus ensuring a balance between the satisfaction of the customers and security of the producers.
